Smart Build

About the company, our experienced trades and how we work

Your best partner

Why Smart Build is a better choice

Simply put, we are totally committed to achieving absolutely the best build for the client with a minimum of inconvenience and stress.

Communications

Whether your project is large or small, we always ensure that you're informed up front about the build process, the timescales, the logistics and the budget. Over the course of a job, we maintain good communications with all parties and update you regularly on progress.

Planning and Flexibility

Although good up front planning is vital, we also recognise the need to be flexible enough for the sorts of changes that inevitably arise during the course of construction. Whenever there's an opportunity to improve the result and/or avoid unnecessary costs, we'll provide advice and guidance for making the most of it.

We deliver...

Customer Focus

Listening to our customers

We treat all our customers as individuals. Some clients have had experience with prior building works and some are embarking on their first project. Each customer has their own unique range of questions and specifications that will need detailed analysis and discussion.

We pride ourselves in listening to customers’ needs and helping them develop the project to best suit them and their families. Listening to our customers and providing guidance when asked also helps keep the customer completely informed and satisfied with the direction of work during the build.

Our experience in planning, design layout and construction budgets can save you money that can be best spent on direct build costs.

Teamwork and communication

Many customers come to us already working with a group of building professionals such as architects, structural engineers and surveyors. For other clients, we can call on our own architects and structural engineers to assist them with a comprehensive “Design and Build” package that we offer.

In either case, we like to take the lead role in fostering clear communication, coordination and teamwork across all parties.

Whether we work with your design team or ours, our aim is to ensure that you have the right design and then give you a clear time frame, well planned process and detailed quote with which to manage your project.

The first thing we build is trust

Experience tells us that attention to detail is paramount within a building project.

By going over the project and process in detail with the customer prior to the build, we create trust from the outset. This gives us the best chance of achieving the perfect result. The approach ensures a well-managed project and fantastically finished end product.

Design and Build Process

Building project management

At Smart Build, we have tuned the building project process to ensure that the customer is well informed in both the mechanics of the build and the timescales, logistics and budget.

We follow a controlled, step-by-step process that allows you to maintain full confidence throughout a build.

The process covers all aspects of the job, including:

Management of the project process is designed to foster good communication and to reduce the stress that people dread when undertaking major works.

The Company and Team

Company History

David Buck founded Smart Build in 2008. He had been working within the building industry since his early teenage years with his father who was a builder and ran his own successful building company. As is the norm in an apprenticeship, you learn the industry from the bottom upwards and David quickly realised the value of hard work and attention to detail.

After learning the basic skills of building while also completing his education, which included A-level business studies, David then went on to Moulton College to obtain bricklaying GNVQ qualifications whilst working with the family business.

Following that, he split his time between building houses for David Wilson and County Homes and working for his father in France doing barn conversions, swimming pools and high end stone work.

The experience of working on bespoke properties in France and the new house building in England gave David the skills, knowledge and hunger to start his own company, specialising in new builds and heritage work.

David wanted to offer something different to customers, something a bit better than the norm in the industry – a higher degree of professionalism, not just in terms of finished products, but also in terms of customer experience. David is dedicated to good communication and a clearer process, so that Smart Build customers can enjoy a building project without stress.

The company has steadily grown in a tough economy. As with any good company the majority of our business comes from recommendations.

We currently employ five full time employees as well as engaging a regular set of highly skilled sub-contractors. Our employees and associates have a range of qualifications within the building industry and all work towards the same objective of complete customer satisfaction and attention to detail.
