New kitchen extension with open plan living space
More and more customers are looking for open plan family spaces. This house originally had a small kitchen and separate dining room which meant that whoever was cooking had no interaction with the rest of the family. There was also a small conservatory to the back of the house, which typically was very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, rendering it impractical.
We were tasked with knocking down the conservatory and building a single story extension to the back of the house. The project involved a substantial amount of structural work. The whole back of the house was supported and the wall was taken out. RSJ’s were then fitted onto the existing brickwork and a feature brickwork pier. This allowed us to create a huge single room, giving the customers the family living space that they wanted.
Sometimes a large room can suffer with a lack of light. To combat this, we supplied and fitted two sets of aluminium bi-folding doors, a side glazing panel and electrically operated, rain sensor Velux windows. This gave the room a sense of openness and allowed the light to feed to the back of the room.
The original kitchen was ripped out, the kitchen services were moved to a different location and a new kitchen was supplied and fitted by our kitchen fitters.
The flooring plays a huge part in any large room. Underfloor heating was fitted in the extension area and a tiled wood effect floor was fitted by ourselves giving both durability in the kitchen area and comfort as tiles conduct the underfloor heating perfectly.
We have a huge amount of experience when it comes to extensions and interior finishes.
